Hello Beautiful,

I love Fashion and being Stylish, but to the core I’m really a Jeans and Shirt kind of girl. If you’re like Me, luckily for Us, jeans are made in all kinds of colours, styles and finishes. Therefore, you can wear them with heels, and a formal blouse or flats and a casual top.

A few weekends ago I pulled out one of My favourite pairs of jeans to wear to the movies. Its a distressed jeans I got from Forever 21 about 3 year ago, and yes it still fits! But the more I wash it, the more the distress parts rip… and I LOVE IT!

It was chilly that night, so I paired it with a plain lime green sweater top, also from Forever 21 and leopard pumps from Nine West. I accessorized with a tribal statement necklace I got from a Bahamian online boutique JaDazzles Clothing and Accessories. I love the look! It was comfortable, casual, but stylish at the same time.

A few weeks later while scrolling thru Instagram, I saw Forever 21 advertising distressed jeans and the Fashion Bomb Daily, also talking about distressed jeans again! I love it when I’m On Trend, In Style, and Fashion Forward!

So if you don’t have a pair already, be sure to get yourself some Distressed Jeans! And if you do have a pair, pull it out your closet and rock it because… ITS TRENDING!

Hello Beautiful…

If you’re like me, a music lover and fashion enthusiast, you most likely watched the 2015 Grammy Awards last night.

I usually begin watching Live from the Red Carpet with E! as Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Obsourne, Ryan Seacrest and others interview the celebrities on their expectations for the show and which Fashion Designers they’re wearing. I must admit, I’m more anxious to see what the women are wearing rather than the men, but I love it when the men make me take note too.

Last night, while folding 2 loads of laundry, I sat in front of my TV and Ooo, Ahhh and tweeted about some of my favorite and not so favorite looks from the Grammys. Here’s my pick for Best Dressed and Worst Dressed:

Best Dress Females:

Jessi J in a sheer and sequins black Ralph and Russo gown.

Zendaya in Vivienne Westwood.

Ariana Grande in Versace.

Jennifer Hudson in Tom Ford.

Jessi J pulled off Sheer and Sequins in the most classy way! Revealing and concealing just enough skin to still look elegant.

Taylor Swift stayed true to her youth by wearing a Colour instead of a Neutral gown, but kept it sophisticated with her Jewels.

Katy Perry opted for a simple styled dress and shoe, but it was the Details and Embellishment that made it event appropriate.

Lady Gaga’s dress showed her curves and cleavage, but it was very refreshing to see her look “Normal” and Glamourous.

Kim K failed because her dress did not Fit her properly. It looked too BIG and the sleeves were too LONG!

Zendaya, Zendaya… this is what happens when you wear RESORT WEAR instead of COUTURE to an award show.

Ariana Grande’s was unflattering for her size and shape, and that silver detail looks like it was a last-minute add on.

Jennifer Hudson must have forgotten where she was going! The tube dress was wrong for the occasion and the accessories didn’t help either.

Hello Beautiful…

It’s FINALLY getting cold in the 242! Our winter is always 2 months late and never stays long. However whenever it gets cold I always suffer from DRY, CHAP lips.

Anyways, I did my research and found that a few Household items were all I need to restore my lips and make them kissably soft and smooth again. So I want to share this easy and inexpensive beauty tip with You… just in time for Valentine’s Day, the day of non-stop smooching!

Here’s What You’ll Need and Why:

k2-_73d84ec4-f208-4a35-996a-6dc93eca3301.v1Sugar is the prime ingredient in this DIY lip scrub as it gently exfoliates or buffs away any dry, chapped, or dead skin from the lips. Sugar is also a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the skin and will keep the lips hydrated.

cherry chapstick

Chapstick is used as a moisturizer in this DIY lip scrub. Coconut oil is also a good moisturiser for this mix. However, chapstick adds colour and scent to the lip scrub if you chose a fruity flavour.

Honey is an age old home ingredient for facials. Honey is added to this lip scrub to soften the lips… and for a little sweet taste. Also, if you have dark lips, a regular routine of rubbing your lips with Honey will lighten them up!

Extra Virgin Olive Oil:

EVOO is my personal most favourite home skin care ingredient and it is perfect for a lip scrub because it has antioxidants to fight free radicals. Free radicals that are found in the air and can cause damage to skin cells. EVOO rejuvenate the lips and is another boost of moisture in this mix.

Some popular Lip Exfoliants can cost you about $10 a pop and only last for a month or two. Making your own Lip Scrub is more cost effective, a lot more healthier and fun! You simply can’t put a price on that.

So start mixing and scrubbing Your lips today, leave your scrub on for 2/3 minutes daily or until You’re satisfied with the results, and by Valentine’s Day your lips will be so soft, You would want to KISS YOURSELF!  Click Here to watch how I made My own Lip Scrub. I hope You enjoyed this Bedside Beauty Tip.

Stay Beautiful!

Living with Scars…

Dear Diary,

I’m back to Blogging and Vlogging on YouTube, but this time with a brand new DSLR camera that is VERY unforgiving.

In some videos I bare all of My Flaws for my 500+ subscribers to see, including skin discolouration, dark spots and in every video the most obvious flaw of all… a Scar above my lip and right under my nose. You CANNOT miss it!

I’ve had this scar for as long as I could remember, and sometimes I forget it’s there. However, due to my Canon t5i and a recent photo shoot, I was reminder that it is there… permanently.

My scar is a result of a horrible traffic accident I survived when I was about 11/12 years old. I had facial trauma and needed stitches which healed into a scar. Although I always loved looking “Pretty”, at 11/12 years old, I was naive to the reality that my scar may cause girls to tease me and boys not to “like” me. However, I’m now 25 and still will not remove My scar.

Here’s why…

One day I met what Bahamians would call a Jonser, but you’d probably say a Bum or Homeless Man. He looked at me and said , “Your scar. Do not remove it! It gives you character.” I was taken aback. He continued, “You’re still beautiful with it!” As if he read my mind and saw my confidence level dropping. He would never know how much his words mean to me still to this day.

Ever since that day I’ve accepted my scar as…well.. My Scar(insert heart emoticon here). So it surprised me when a photographer completely removed my scar with Photoshop on some recent pictures I took.

I wasn’t upset, because I didn’t instruct him not to remove My Scar, but I didn’t tell him to remove it either! This reminded me that not everyone has or will accept My Scar… or any scar for that matter. It reminded me that in a world searching for PERFECTION, scars are still forbidden or taboo.

We as people are still trying to ERASE our scars, instead of trying to EMBRACE our scars and accepting how they contribute to our “Character”. Someone else’s scar may not be physical like mine, and on the outside for the world to see, but they may be just as rigid on the inside.

For anyone who is living with a SCAR, whether its physical or emotional such as Mental Abuse, Self Hate, Insecurities, etc. I just want them to know that it’s okay! And that the sooner they EMBRACE their scar, the sooner they’ll realise how it makes them BEAUTIFUL!
