Double Take: theBstinger

Hello Beautiful…

Honestly, I don’t know much about this week’s Double Take feature except that sis is Stylish, and she’s a Stylist! She’s also in My Top 3 of Style Inspirations. Sabine (@thebstinger) is a Miami Blogger who serves on the looks from corporate chic, to country brunch, to city girl sophisticated sexy!

I relate to her because of the versatility of her style. My style is very similar to her style as it goes with my mood, the occasion, the location, the time of year. Also, I relate to her because she’s a dark “brown skin girl” who’s showing that our style doesn’t have to be limited. We can give you preppy and sexy… and you will deal!

So I’ve been holding in this little secret because I always knew that I wanted to start this Double Take series on my blog, where I show how I recreated looks from some of my favorite Instagram influencers. The secret is that theBstinger, was the inspiration behind one of my most liked Washington D.C. vacation looks. This was also the look that got me following her!

So, here’s how it all began… I was scrolling Instagram one day while lying in bed and I came across a post from @celrelaxedhair featuring this very look from @thebstinger! It was the glasses for Me! I had just bought me a pair of big framed square glasses from Zeelol.com and I felt like… this sister sees Me! “We see each other!” I immediately clicked on her IG handle, followed her and liked a bunch of her outfit post, but this one in particular I secretly saved to recreate! I had just about everything she had on in the picture… the big frames, the long coat, some jeans, a red crossbody bag. All I needed was some sneakers, and they came as a surprise gift just a few months later! I decided I was going to recreate this look and My trip to Washington D.C. presented the perfect opportunity.

My crossbody bag and sneakers are from Gucci. I got My coat from a Forever 21 in Nashville (check out My post “Nassau Gal in Nashville!”) and My jeans are from Fashion Nova.

Check out how I recreated theBstinger’s look:

#OOTD: Bahama Mama

Hello Beautiful!

Have You ever bought a Piece (of Fashion) and based Your entire outfit around it? Maybe a particular earring, a certain shoe or a unique hat?

Well in this outfit of the day, it was the headband for Me! A few days before the Bahamas’s 47th Independence Day, I cam across a sponsored ad for a local Bahamian designer who was making Androsia Print headbands. Androsia Print is a fabric that’s native to the Bahamas.

No celebration necessary. I didn’t purchase the headband to celebrate Independence. It was simply “that piece”! The one that you lock eyes with at a boutique and have to have it for your wardrobe collection. That one single piece that You center an entire outfit around. That is what the Androsian Print Braided Headband was for Me. Paired with a straw handled clutch (straw bags and straw work are also native to the Bahamas) I curated an outfit fit for a modern day Bahama Mama!

Here’s what I wore…

Androsian Print Braided Headband

One-Sleeve White Tie Blouse

Boyfriend Jeans

White Faux Alligator Skin Mules

Straw Handled Clutch

Clout Goggles/Sunglasses

#OOTD: Blazer and Bicycle Shorts

Hello Beautiful,

Life is coming at me fast this summer! I don’t think my closet can keep up with my invites. But I’m grateful for being busy, because I get bored easily.

Oh! And my birthday is in a few days (weeks actually), which means my style has to grow up with me as I get older.

Thats the fun in style. As your life grows, your style evolves. So when Pandora invited me to a “girls night out” at their boutique on Bay Street, Nassau, Bahamas, I figured I would put on my GROWN and sexy to commemorate the final years of my 20 somethings.

Here’s what I wore…

Neon Yellow Blazer

Black Plunger Neck Body Suit

Floral Multi-Colored Short Pants

Gold Metal Belt

Black & Gold Ankle Strap Chunky Heels

Black & Gold Clutch

#OOTD: Wild Thoughts

Like most of you I’ve been vibing to Dj Khaled’s Wild Thoughts featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. Its my jam for the season and my mantra for Summer 2017 “…all I get is Wild Thoughts. Wild, wild, wild.”

Summer is the perfect season to get a little wild with your style!

Its the time when hair is being cut and/or colored, nail polishes are brighter and makeup is bolder.

This summer I’m being drawn to this neon greenish yellow color. So I was super excited when one of my favorite clothing stores, JaDazzles Clothing & Accessories, had the most sexy but stylish dress in my favorite color for the summer.

The dress is a body con dress so it hugs all the right curves. It’s above the knee but not exactly a mini, which I like because it’s sexy without being too revealing. The oversize ruffles on the sleeves are trending this year as well.

Although I wanted to wear this dress to another function a few weeks back, nothing is before it’s time. Its a good thing I didn’t wear it because I later got invited to the L’Oreal Awakening Relaunch Event held at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort and the dress was perfect for the cocktail attire event.

Here’s what I wore:

Lemonchello Ruffle Dress

Colorful Ankle Strap Heels

Colorful Earrings

Michael Kors Bracelet

Michael Ring

Rose Gold Apple Watch

OOTD: Classic Red and Black

Hello Beautiful!

In March of this year I visited Nashville, and for the first time, I had a hard time finding clothes for Me.

You may not know, but most businesses (especially clothing stores) tailor their inventory to the likes of their consumers and the Forever 21 at the Opry Mills Mall in Tennessee was no different.

Nashville has a boho-chic meets country style, and I’m a city/island girl, so I was having trouble finding clothes that fit my personal style. The selection just wasn’t Me.

That was until I went looking on the clearance rack!

There, I found me the cutest velvet, baroque print, red and black mini skirt for $4.00! Yes, you read right… $4.00.

I was so excited to wear it as I loved the way it looked on Me. So when I decided to attend the Island of the World Fashion Week show this month, I figured it was the perfect occasion.

Here’s what I wore:

A Black  Back Out Body Suit

A Black & Red Velvet Baroque Mini Skirt

Black Strap Up Tassel Heels

A Black Suede Clutch

#OOTD: Peachy Keen, Jelly Bean

Hello Beautiful,

One day I was scrolling through Instagram (ya’ll know I love the ‘gram; follow Me here), and I came across this quote meme that read, ” Make Choices that Liberate You”.

I kept scrolling, but that quote stayed. It stayed in My mind and I would hear it echoing every day, “Make Choices that Liberate You. Make Choices that Liberate You. Make Choices that Liberate You.”

So, I did just that. Made Choices to Liberate Me.

I braided My hair, because My relaxed hair would take too much time to fix in the mornings before work. Braids are much easier.

I walked away from relationships that made Me feel more anxious than at ease.

I applied for a new position that will give me more structure in my schedule, than shifts that felt like they stole all my time.

With each choice I made, I started to feel lighter, and free. Now, when someone asks how I’m doing I can honestly reply, “Peachy Keen, Jelly Bean.” like Rizzo in the movie Grease.

Speaking of peachy, and feeling light, I had lunch last week and those two words describe My outfit of the day perfectly.

Here’s what I wore:

  • A Peach Crop Top & Trouser Pants Set
  • Nude Three Strap Sandal Heels
  • Gold Hoops
  • Gold Michael Kors Watch
  • Multiple Beaded Bracelets
  • Midi Ring
  • Nude Clutch

#OOTD: Clear & Colour

Hello Beautiful!

Its been a while since I blogged about fashion and my outfit of the day.

The truth is I haven’t been putting on no outfits, and going anywhere in the day. I’ve been so consumed with my work schedule that my social life (not that I ever had much of one) declined and I wasn’t shopping for new clothes, because I haven’t worn my old ones yet.

I’ve been in this state for months, but Spring has a way of renewing things like flowers, houses, and mindsets. One such mindset was my own, and one day I decided I’m going to get dressed up, go out and Spring my life forward!

With a mix of old clothes and new accessories, here’s what I wore:

  • Side Cut-Out Jeans Body Suit
  • Green Tea Length Skirt
  • Neon Pink Pineapple Clasp Belt
  • Clear Strap Lucite Heels
  • Custom-made “Bahama Mama” Pursenal Paradyse Wristlet
  • Minimal Jewelry

This outfit works because my jeans body suit & lucite heels are neutral, while my belt and skirt adds colour to the look.

…Back to Bimini!

Hello Beautiful!

Happy New Year… and all that good STUFF!

This year I plan to get and keep my blog game up! But, I won’t make any promises.

Its almost 2:00 in the morning and I’m up reminiscing…

Have I ever told you about the time I visited Bimini, Bahamas?

No?.. Well… let me tell you now! I fell in love with a place like never before!

Bimini is a Family Island in the chain of Bahama Islands. And perhaps the smallest one at that!

About a year ago (last year February to be exact) I vacationed there for 4 days and this is how it went…

I took a plane ride from Nassau, Bahamas to Bimini on Western Air.

Once I safely landed on SOUTH Bimini, myself and almost everyone on the plane caught a shuttle to the Ferry. Then we had to catch a ferry to NORTH Bimini… this was already turning into an Adventure!

The ferry ride was about $5.00.

Once on North Bimini, I caught a taxi to Resorts World Bimini, a golf cart community that host The Hilton hotel on the island. I was staying at the Hilton, its usually my hotel brand of choice.

The ride from the ferry dock to the Hilton at Resorts World Bimini was very short, probably less than 20 minutes with stops. North Bimini is literally one straight road with a few curves and corners.

I was already in awe of the island as I gazed at the beautiful beach from the taxi window, I was more amazed when I got to the hotel. It was newly built and sexy!

Checked in, and in my hotel room… I pulled out my phone to stunt for the ‘gram! It was time to let everyone know I was in BIMINI TOWN!

img_0174

The hotel room was modern contemporary, with a minimalist approach. The beds (which are my favourite things about Hilton hotels) were soft and lush, but not comfortable enough to keep me hostage.

MK backpack and Canon T5i in tow, I was out the room in no time, and ready to explore the premises. I saved the Island for the next day.

In Resorts World Bimini, once you’re a guest of the hotel, there is a black shuttle bus that takes you around the community. I opted to walk to the facilities though, I wanted to see everything and take pics.

My first stop was Amicci’s, an Italian style deli, that became a regular stop for me during my stay. Should you every visit, be sure to try their meat lovers pizza and mango gelato!

img_3833

I spent that day familiarising myself with the property, then I turned in for a nap and sweet dreams of Bimini.

Day Two was probably my most favourite day there! I rented a golf cart and set out with “A List of Things to do whiles in Bimini.”

Here are a few things I did:

Had lunch poolside at Aqua Bar and Grille

Toured Dolphin House

Ate Conch Salad at Stuart’s Conch Stand

Visit the Island Centre

img_3872-1

I wasn’t able to visit the museum as it was closed, but I’ll be sure to when I return!

Later that night I topped off my day of activities with dinner at the Hemmingways restaurant in the hotel casino.

Day Three was just as exciting as Day Two because I visited the Bimini Biological Field Station Shark Lab on the south side of Bimini. Remember I was staying on the NORTHERN side.

So after some good Bahamian souse for breakfast at Bimini’s native restaurant- 3 Daughters, I had to drive to the ferry dock (got there in less than 10 minutes lol), hop on a ferry and rode the ferry to the south side (less than 20 minutes), then catch a taxi to the Shark Lab (I don’t remember the length of that ride).

I learned a lot about the sharks, stood in shark water and even pet one. Then it was on to the nature trail…

Well, that didn’t last long. I’m not fond of bushes and bugs.

Next, it was back on the ferry, back to the north side, and back to the hotel! Sighs…

As I’m writing this, I wish I can just hop on a plane right now and go back to Bimini!

On the last day I stayed in Resorts World Bimini until it was time to leave.

I enjoyed an American style breakfast at the Sabor restaurant before taking a dip in the most amazing infinity pool!!

My Bimini trip was one of the BEST trips I’ve ever taken in My life! Bimini is not only beautiful but its very historical, truly magical and simply amazing.
