Sanitas Skincare – 1 Week Recap

Hello Beautiful,

If you follow me on Instagram, you would’ve known by now that I’m currently using Sanitas Skincare facial products for normal skin. The kit was suggested to me by the estheticians at Windrose Spa at the Compass Point Resort, Nassau, Bahamas.

Sanitas Gift Bag

Read my review on my Spa experience here.

I started using the products, Sunday July 17th, and since then I have seen slight progress. I cannot wait to see what my results will be like in a month. The products are small and came in a little travel bag. The following are included in the package:

  • 1 – Lemon Cream Cleanser
  • 1 – Glycolic Citrus Cleanser
  • 1 – GlycoSolution 5%
  • 1 – Moisture Mist
  • 1 – VitaRich Serum
  • 1 – Antioxidant Moisturizer

The kit also comes with an instructions sheet, that tells you which products to use, one after the other, and which ones to use on specific days: Exercise Day and Rest Day, just like a real workout regimen.

I must admit I started my regimen wrong. I thought exercise days, and rest days meant days when I was highly active and days when I was relaxed, respectively. However, after following up with Ansharday, an esthetician at Windrose Spa, I learned that Exercise days were the days I “worked out” my skin with the stronger products such as the Glycolic Citrus Cleanser and the GlycoSolution, whereas the Rest days were the days I “rested” my skin with the more gentle products like the Lemon Cream Cleanser. Once I learned that, I got it right!

On Exercise Day its recommended you use the following:

  • Glycolic Citrus Cleanser: Stimulates healthy cell growth by thoroughly removing dead skin cells, dirt and oil.
  • GlycoSolution 5%: Exfoliates the skin and gradually tones hyperpigmentation and fine lines.
  • Moisture Mist: Helps to reduce irritation prior to applying your serums, oils, treatments and moisturizer while softening and smoothing your skin’s texture.
  • VitaRich Serum:  Accelerates skin renewal and prevent premature signs of aging by deeply hydrating the skin. It also firms and smooths the skin.
  •  Antioxidant Moisturizer: Deeply nourishes the skin while delivering a plumping effect. The result is a firmer, brighter and younger-looking skin.

On Rest Day its recommended you use the following:

  • Lemon Cream Cleanser: Hydrates skin while thoroughly removing dirt, excess oil and impurities.
  • Moisture Mist
  • VitaRich Serum
  • Antioxidant Moisturizer

I don’t know which product is my favorite. I love them all! Especially after seeing results.

My facial skin use to be dry, and very hyperpigmented. I started to notice fine lines around my mouth, nose and eyes and I have a lot dark spots.

Now, my skin is soft and moisturized. My face looks more youthful and firm. I’m noticing my complexion is becoming more even and toned, and although I still have these annoying dark spot, I do believe they will fade after a month or so. It’s only been a week.

242BlqRze After SANITAS

All the products feel gentle, even the GlycoSolution 5% that burns a little when applied isn’t as bad as other products I’ve used that have burned me, dried my skin, bleach my carpet or smell like a cleaning product.

So far I’m satisfied with these skin care products and I’m happy with results.

My regimen is as follows:

  • Exercise Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Rest Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you’re interested in trying the Sanitas Skincare visit your local spa or dermatologist as the product isn’t easily found over the counter or online because Sanitas wants you to use the products specific to your needs after a professional consultation.

Sanitas Normal Kit Products

If you live in Nassau, Bahamas or visiting, make an appointment or walk-in to Windrose Spa at the Compass Point Resort, maybe have a facial and find out which Sanitas product or kit the estheticians will recommend for you!

I guarantee you, you won’t be disappointed.

Tell them 242BlqRze sent you!

OOTD: Simple Summer

Hello Beautiful,

Summer is officially here and it’s the perfect reason to let loose and have fun!

My idea of Summer fun is being surrounded by the water. Although I’m already surrounded by the water, just by living on an island, when I say surrounded by water I want ever spare moment I have to be spent on a beach.

The water calms me on one hand and ignites my wanderlust spirit on the other. I’ve even been considering working on a boat for a year, travelling the world, making some money and blogging about! If the opportunity comes I’ll take it, hands down!

So, I spent my first Sunday of Summer by the water, soaking up the sun and eating a daiquiri to cool down.

Here’s what I wore:

Beige Crochet Crop Top

Distressed Oversized Boyfriend Jeans

Floral Beach Cover Up

Floral Strap Ups

OOTD: Classic Red and Black

Hello Beautiful!

In March of this year I visited Nashville, and for the first time, I had a hard time finding clothes for Me.

You may not know, but most businesses (especially clothing stores) tailor their inventory to the likes of their consumers and the Forever 21 at the Opry Mills Mall in Tennessee was no different.

Nashville has a boho-chic meets country style, and I’m a city/island girl, so I was having trouble finding clothes that fit my personal style. The selection just wasn’t Me.

That was until I went looking on the clearance rack!

There, I found me the cutest velvet, baroque print, red and black mini skirt for $4.00! Yes, you read right… $4.00.

I was so excited to wear it as I loved the way it looked on Me. So when I decided to attend the Island of the World Fashion Week show this month, I figured it was the perfect occasion.

Here’s what I wore:

A Black & Red Velvet Baroque Mini Skirt

Black Strap Up Tassel Heels

A Black Suede Clutch

Pretty in PINK Octopus

Hello Beautiful!

I’ve finally made it!

About a month or two ago, I saw an ad or promotion for one of Nassau’s newest restaurants on Instagram, and with an uncommon name like Pink Octopus, I was immediately intrigued.

IMG_4013

I’ve been wanting to go for weeks, and I finally made it last week Tuesday.

Pink Octopus is located on West Bay Street, Nassau, Bahamas. So it’s tucked away in this quaint but modern space (formerly Mojos), away from the traffic of Nassau. The space has ample parking, but that may soon change as the restaurant becomes more popular.

My cousin and friend accompanied me for lunch that day, and I would advise you to take 2/3 people with you when you go as well. The food servings are small. So the best idea would be for everyone to order multiple options off of the menu and sample each others meals. Thats what we did!

My cousin ordered the Fried Grouper Tacos with a side order of Asparagus.

My friend ordered the Roasted Chicken that is served on a bed of roasted Potato wedges.

I ordered the the Spicy Shrimp with a side order of Fried Cauliflower.

IMG_3991

The presentation of the food is just as intriguing as the name. The food is served with lots of greens and vegetables, which is just as appealing to the eyes as it is the tongue palates.

If you’re not big on vegetables, don’t fear! You hardly taste the icky stuff, just delicious kicks to the meal.

Out of everything we ordered the Spicy Shrimp & Asparagus was our favourites. So I suggest you try those when you visit.

Now, apart from a unique brunch, lunch and dinner menu… Pink Octopus has an AMAZING cocktail menu! I’m not even a cocktail connoisseur, but I know a good drink when I taste one, or two or three (covers face).

IMG_3973

To get our party of 3 started the bartender mixed us a shot called the “Pink Lemon Drop”. It was served in a shot glass, with sugar around the rim and a lime on top. Yes, of course, it was coloured pink!

It wasn’t as strong as most shots, and I was able to handle it. I like that shot, and will be ordering another round when I go back!

Personally, I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita. I heard the Mr. Pink is their popular drink, so I opted to go with the minority, and I wasn’t disappointed. Mixed with a muddled Blood Orange, Dry Curacao, Tequila and garnished with a slice of an actual Blood Orange, the margarita wasn’t too strong but it gave you a nice buzz.

IMG_3986

I notice the restaurant didn’t have loud, overbearing music and it was quiet enough for us to have a good conversation with out everyone hearing our business. Thats a plus for me because I enjoy intimate conversations when I’m out to eat.

We had a small complaint, but nothing to keep me away from referring Pink Octopus or going back. Also, I’m not sure if the manager thought it was My birthday (I was Pretty in Pink like it was My Birthday) or if it was his way of apologizing but he sent out a complimentary Dulce de Leche Flan covered in toasted Sesame Seeds with a Happy Birthday candle (I haven’t seen one of them in years lol) and had the bartender, Alan, sing Happy Birthday to me.

Listen… Alan’s voice was enough to make up for any wrong! It wasn’t my birthday but I felt like it was. If you’re planning on celebrating anything special at Pink Octopus, make sure Alan is there to serenade you in the moment.

Back to the Flan! I’m glad the manager chose the Flan to send out to us, because it isn’t something I would usually order, but it was surprisingly good and the seeds give it a distinct taste at the end.

The surprises didn’t stop there! We got another round of shots. This time, Chocalate Cake shots and I’m not sure what all was in the mix but I tasted Bailey’s for sure.

Lastly, I orded a slice of Orange Cake. It was beautifully served on top of smeared yogurt and almonds, and covered with chunks of orange pulp. The cake was moist and delicious.

IMG_4012

Pink Octopus menu is made to order, so you will have a little wait on your meals. When we went, our meals came fast because the restaurant wasn’t crowded, but keep this in mind if you go on a busy day or night.

The price range varies depending on what you order, but it’s pretty affordable especially if you’re splitting the bill.

Our bill came up to $124.96 cents including tax. We asked them to split the total in three and each paid about $42. This is another great tip when dining out with friends, share the food and split the bill evenly.

Overall I enjoyed my first time at Pink Octopus. From the decor to the decadence of the food & cocktails. The staff was inviting and very knowledgeable about the menu. Don’t be afraid to ask your waitress what she suggest, if you’re not sure what to try. Lastly the price point was on point. I didn’t feel like I broke the bank to enjoy an exquisitely different menu from the typical Bahamian culture, and be serenaded as well.

I will visit Pink Octopus again… hopefully sooner than later! And I hope I see you there so we can sip on a Mr. Pink while taking an Usie!

HOW TO: Ball on a Budget at Dinner/Girls Night Out

Hello Beautiful!

First off, I want to thank you for all the “InstaLove” I’ve been getting from You! Picture number 20 (from the top) on Instagram surely got more likes than I expected but I am grateful. So if you’re not following me on Instagram, do so now at @242blqrze!

So this year I have a few goals I want to accomplish that requires me to be smart with my coins (money). However, everyone needs a good time now and again… especially when it’s to celebrate you and/or your loyal friends and family.

So I came up with 5 Tips to “secure the bag” but still have a good time:

1.Plan Ahead:

Let’s say you got invited out to eat, maybe in advance or at short notice, and you’re not sure you can afford it, but you don’t want to decline.

Ask your friend or family the name of the restaurant and quickly look it up on your smart device. Pull up the menu and scan over it for the options you COULD afford.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll already know what to order at the restaurant and won’t become sidetracked by other peoples’ options, pressuring you to order something over your budget.

2.Dress for Less

Have you ever got all dressed up, went out and NO ONE saw you? Or you didn’t take any pictures? Well thats the dress/outfit you want to wear again, but possibly switch up your shoes and/or accessories.

Wearing an old, or less popular item from your closet allows you to look brand new on your night out, without having to buy anything new!

This saves you from spontaneous shopping, buyer’s remorse and going over your budget for one night out!

3.Ask Youtube!

Girlfriend, if this is not your birthday, your party or your dinner, there is no need for you to spend money to get your hair, nails and makeup done.

Simply look up hairstyles, makeup tips, and nail art tricks on Youtube to help you get ready for your night on the town. Sure you may not be as advanced as the beauty gurus, but there are a lot of simple and quick ways you can enhance your beauty for one night.

Now if it is YOUR big night… I say go all out!

4. Carry Exact Cash + Some Change

The easiest way to spend your coins, is travelling with more than you need!

Once you’ve already decided what you’re ordering off the menu, add that plus gratuity and tax… then take about $20-$30 extra incase your calculations aren’t correct. So if your meal  and drink should cost about $50, then you take $70. And no more than that!

Leave your credit cards, and debit cards home! These are temptation to spend more than you want to and absolutely need to.

unknown

Now, if you’re a just in case person and concern about an emergency… take your debit card, “just in case”. But try your hardest to be disciplined and stick to the plan you set up from Tip #1.

5. Drive Your Own Car

This may sound obvious right?… but hear me out!

Unless it is in your plan (and budget) to bar hop all night… you should drive your own car and leave when you plan to. A good time isn’t determined by how late you stay out. It only matters if you had fun.

When you carpool with friends you become obligated to go where they go. Another restaurant, a small bar, or 2 clubs…all in one night and all over your budget.

It’s okay to tell your friends you’re “good for the night” and leave, because more than likely you’ll want to go out again next week, and the week after that.

So beautiful those are my 5 quick tips to BALL on a BUDGET on a night out. Remember we’re “securing the bag” in 2017, and that way we can be Fierce & Fabulous all year long! Not just for one night.

…Back to Bimini!

Hello Beautiful!

Happy New Year… and all that good STUFF!

This year I plan to get and keep my blog game up! But, I won’t make any promises.

Its almost 2:00 in the morning and I’m up reminiscing…

Have I ever told you about the time I visited Bimini, Bahamas?

No?.. Well… let me tell you now! I fell in love with a place like never before!

Bimini is a Family Island in the chain of Bahama Islands. And perhaps the smallest one at that!

About a year ago (last year February to be exact) I vacationed there for 4 days and this is how it went…

I took a plane ride from Nassau, Bahamas to Bimini on Western Air.

Once I safely landed on SOUTH Bimini, myself and almost everyone on the plane caught a shuttle to the Ferry. Then we had to catch a ferry to NORTH Bimini… this was already turning into an Adventure!

The ferry ride was about $5.00.

Once on North Bimini, I caught a taxi to Resorts World Bimini, a golf cart community that host The Hilton hotel on the island. I was staying at the Hilton, its usually my hotel brand of choice.

The ride from the ferry dock to the Hilton at Resorts World Bimini was very short, probably less than 20 minutes with stops. North Bimini is literally one straight road with a few curves and corners.

I was already in awe of the island as I gazed at the beautiful beach from the taxi window, I was more amazed when I got to the hotel. It was newly built and sexy!

Checked in, and in my hotel room… I pulled out my phone to stunt for the ‘gram! It was time to let everyone know I was in BIMINI TOWN!

img_0174

The hotel room was modern contemporary, with a minimalist approach. The beds (which are my favourite things about Hilton hotels) were soft and lush, but not comfortable enough to keep me hostage.

MK backpack and Canon T5i in tow, I was out the room in no time, and ready to explore the premises. I saved the Island for the next day.

In Resorts World Bimini, once you’re a guest of the hotel, there is a black shuttle bus that takes you around the community. I opted to walk to the facilities though, I wanted to see everything and take pics.

My first stop was Amicci’s, an Italian style deli, that became a regular stop for me during my stay. Should you every visit, be sure to try their meat lovers pizza and mango gelato!

img_3833

I spent that day familiarising myself with the property, then I turned in for a nap and sweet dreams of Bimini.

Day Two was probably my most favourite day there! I rented a golf cart and set out with “A List of Things to do whiles in Bimini.”

Here are a few things I did:

Had lunch poolside at Aqua Bar and Grille

Toured Dolphin House

Ate Conch Salad at Stuart’s Conch Stand

Visit the Island Centre

img_3872-1

I wasn’t able to visit the museum as it was closed, but I’ll be sure to when I return!

Later that night I topped off my day of activities with dinner at the Hemmingways restaurant in the hotel casino.

Day Three was just as exciting as Day Two because I visited the Bimini Biological Field Station Shark Lab on the south side of Bimini. Remember I was staying on the NORTHERN side.

So after some good Bahamian souse for breakfast at Bimini’s native restaurant- 3 Daughters, I had to drive to the ferry dock (got there in less than 10 minutes lol), hop on a ferry and rode the ferry to the south side (less than 20 minutes), then catch a taxi to the Shark Lab (I don’t remember the length of that ride).

I learned a lot about the sharks, stood in shark water and even pet one. Then it was on to the nature trail…

Well, that didn’t last long. I’m not fond of bushes and bugs.

Next, it was back on the ferry, back to the north side, and back to the hotel! Sighs…

As I’m writing this, I wish I can just hop on a plane right now and go back to Bimini!

On the last day I stayed in Resorts World Bimini until it was time to leave.

I enjoyed an American style breakfast at the Sabor restaurant before taking a dip in the most amazing infinity pool!!

My Bimini trip was one of the BEST trips I’ve ever taken in My life! Bimini is not only beautiful but its very historical, truly magical and simply amazing.
